Writing Task 1 — Letter to a Neighbour About a Tree (Online Task)

Task 1 — General Training

You should spend about 20 minutes on this task. Write at least 150 words.

A large tree in your neighbour's garden now blocks the light from your kitchen window and drops branches onto your path. Your neighbour is Mr Baptiste.

Write a letter to your neighbour. In your letter:

• describe the problem the tree is causing
• say what you have already tried to do about it
• suggest a solution and offer to share the cost

Write at least 150 words. You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Begin your letter as follows: Dear Mr Baptiste,

Marked on Task Response, Coherence and Cohesion, Lexical Resource, and Grammatical Range and Accuracy. Plan for a minute, write to length, then leave time to read it back.
