Writing Task 1 — Letter to a Tutor About Missing Classes (Online Task)

Task 1 — General Training

You should spend about 20 minutes on this task. Write at least 150 words.

You attend an evening class twice a week. Because your work shifts have changed, you will have to miss the next three classes. Your tutor is Mr Novak.

Write a letter to your tutor. In your letter:

• explain why you will be absent
• ask what you can do to keep up with the course
• say when you expect to return to class

Write at least 150 words. You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Begin your letter as follows: Dear Mr Novak,

Marked on Task Response, Coherence and Cohesion, Lexical Resource, and Grammatical Range and Accuracy. Plan for a minute, write to length, then leave time to read it back.
